Tea tasting

My Saturday consisted of driving to another city for a workshop on Japanese Tea culture and aspects of Zen Buddhism and the similarities between the two. Most workshops I’ve attended in the last two years are structured like a typical lecture and questions can be asked as your curiosity is peaked. I found some interest in the appreciation for arts through these tea ceremonies and how pieces would vary based on seasons. These ceremonies took place in an intimate space where everyone participated in a ritual that dates back to the 16th century. I’m always fascinated by ones interests in another culture. Why art? Why not?

I grew up around photography in my dad’s photography business from a early age. He opened the store in Golden Rock Shopping Center in St. Croix, U.S. Virgin Islands (1987), the year I was born.. My siblings and I spent our summers there until we all graduated from high school. I remember telling my parents that I wanted to be a gynecologist and I didn’t know what it was until my dad told me, “You want to be a vagina doctor?” Smh!
