Color Theory & Philosophy

Fun fact: not all artist enjoy color I happen to be one of those artist who enjoy a gray scale or monochromatic color scheme.. With that being said, you will find the use of color in my work but it’s never unintentional. Each color scheme is chosen and the application is somewhat organic. As long as I control media, the application is never a burden. It takes a couple minutes for me to figure out what I’m going to use, I’ll arrange them in a scale from light to dark then plug in the color where I feels it fits in the composition. As an artist we tug at our imagination a great deal and there’s an ongoing battle than...

Fluidity.

If you’re dreams don’t scare you, they aren’t big enough.. It’s hard to think of life without dreams and aspirations, it feels like an inability to breath and total misery. Letting your mind explore the possibilities in life is what makes each and every day significant. How can you truly live life if all you ever think about is what everyone else thinks you can’t do? It’s irrational and unreasonable to believe you can never be happy. If everyone believed in their purpose the world be a different place. Being unhappy is a choice, remaining that way can seem like a death sentence.. Follow your dreams even if the road gets lonely, there is always hope and faith will guide you...

Making better decisions

I’ve been struggling with my eating habits for the last couple of years and to be honest I haven’t found a solution for it.. With that being said, I am taking small steps towards understanding what triggers my emotional eating and how I can regain control. I know this will take a great deal of patience and through this discovery I know I can get back on track. If you are struggling with something, don’t be ashamed, we all have things about ourselves that we are not proud of. Learning is a life long journey, let’s make the best of what we have and share what we know.

A part of you

Lately I have noticed an interest shown by my students on the significance of art..Oddly I never thought I would have to explain why art matters but in some aspect, art serve little to no purpose to them. When you invest your being into something greater than yourself, it’s almost painful to think of anything that would be more significant. A part of my interest in art comes from my willingness to submit to my weaknesses, share parts of myself that most would not or allow myself to experience life without the lense of doubt. A part of you has to want to be a part of art and the process of creating. You have to want it more than...

Why art? Why not?

I grew up around photography in my dad’s photography business from a early age. He opened the store in Golden Rock Shopping Center in St. Croix, U.S. Virgin Islands (1987), the year I was born.. My siblings and I spent our summers there until we all graduated from high school. I remember telling my parents that I wanted to be a gynecologist and I didn’t know what it was until my dad told me, “You want to be a vagina doctor?” Smh! Didn’t know what I wanted to be when I was 17, I knew I didn’t want to be a disappointment. Studied Biomedical technology until I found out that dentist have one of the highest suicide rates.. Second year...
