My Saturday consisted of driving to another city for a workshop on Japanese Tea culture and aspects of Zen Buddhism and the similarities between the two. Most workshops I’ve attended in the last two years are structured like a typical lecture and questions can be asked as your curiosity is peaked. I found some interest in the appreciation for arts through these tea ceremonies and how pieces would vary based on seasons. These ceremonies took place in an intimate space where everyone participated in a ritual that dates back to the 16th century. I’m always fascinated by ones interests in another culture. Who gets to tell the story? Those who partake or observed in history? Great way to spend the weekend, educate yourself when you are looking for things to do today. Give your movement purpose.
